I remember in the early 50’s one of the crowd pleasing thing’s to do
Syncopated Monkey
Dangerous Dan McGrew (supposedly based on a true life Alaska event)
Little Nash Rambler (this became later a shortened version called
"Beep Beep")
…These were not simple little verses they were maybe 5-10
minutes long and as you can tell I was never skilled enough to "Rap"
them and was always amazed when I would see it performed…
…Does anyone have the words to any of these … or was I the
only person dazzled…
I heard that in 1968 in Vietnam from a Southerner. Don't remember the words, just remember listening to it entranced. There was a rhythm to it that made you want to move in time with the words.

Wow. I've asked people if they have ever heard it but nobody has.

Yeah, I heard "The Signifying Monkey" in jail in the early 1960s.

There's also "Sinbad The Sailor", from the streets of Brooklyn.

Wish I had some good recordings of these...
