Check it out; it is still a little bit of work in progress, but it will be go live soon:

http://digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_country/best_bluegrass_songs.html

A couple of misspellings will be corrected in a little bit.

The list is a compromise between the traditional bluegrass and "Newgrass" or "Progressive Bluegrass". Perhaps someday there will be two sepaarte lists for each; and as far I am concerned, I will gladly accede to someone closer to this music or with more knowledge if they think they can provide a better or more inclusive or relevant list.

The Digital Dream Door web-site has been up and around for 7 or more years, but has never had a Bluegrass list. This is an early (sic) attempt to remedy that.

I co-authored the list, and my colleague and I only disagreed a little bit about one selection. Perhaps we missed several essential songs, but we hope many if not most of the important or key records are there.

Helpful comments welcome.

Can't believe that you overlooked "White Dove", by the
Stanley Brothers.

One of Carter Stanley's masterpieces.

Not quite as much a masterpiece as this one, a very similar song, structurally speaking:

Nor close to the "Hope Diamond" that is Rank Stranger.

Look, I appreciate the feedback very much; it is what I'm looking for. There certainly are much more than 100 or 110 engaging or worthwhile Bluegrass songs than are on the list.

White Dove does not stand out for me as something that rates as high as the other Stanley's offerings we have. But it is a good song. If we expand the list to 125 or more, it may be on the next revision of the list.

Thanks for the suggestion.
